Route Description for Big McGee Lake Trail
The mosques along Big McGee Lake Trail can be rather prolific and so you should prepare yourself accordingly. We recommend wearing long sleeves and pants, as well as bringing lots of bug repellent with you if you are planning on doing the route during the springtime. Likewise, even in early summer snow can be found throughout the higher elevation sections of the route, therefore making the route more challenging.
With your vehicle parked, follow McGee Pack Station Trail as it makes its way west alongside McGee Creek. The elevation will steadily incline as the trail bypasses a number of creeks, and eventually veers south. Continuing on its southern heading, the trail will maintain its steady elevation incline as it brings you to an unnamed lake. Having passed the lake the Big McGee Lake Trail will reach a series of junctions within the trail.
Stay on McGee Pass Trail through the junctions, and continue on your southern heading. After crossing one last creek, the route will deliver you to beautiful Big McGee Lake. Take some time and enjoy the scenery before backtracking your steps towards the trailhead.
