Route Description for Sourdough Trail via South St. Vrain Hike
Sourdough Trail via South St.Vrain Hike is an idyllic circuit trail through the forest. This hike is uber enjoyable in the summer months, but what about when it starts to snow? Well, pack your snowshoes! With little elevation gain and coverage from the trees, the Sourdough Trail via South St.Vrain Hike is epic! Note that unfortunately your dog won’t be able to join you on this hike in the winter months.
When you are ready to adventure this trail, depart from the Brainard Lake Winter Lot. Complete this circuit from either direction, but we recommend going clockwise. Veer left and head west on the Waldrop Trail. Continue along this trail, ignoring the other paths that merge onto it. You will eventually intersect with the St. Vrain Creek. After you cross the creek, you will be confronted with an intersection. Turn right onto the South St. Vrain Trail. Diverting you east, this path will follow along the scenic St. Vrain Creek.
At this point you will encounter another junction, turn right onto the Sourdough Trail. You will cross a log bridge over the creek. Continue hiking through the lush forest until the trail delivers you back to the carpark.
