Route Description for Yavapai Geology Museum to Verkamp’s Hike
The Rim Trail follows a large stretch of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where most visitors to the park end up making their home base. Yavapai Point is one of the popular viewpoints on the South Rim, and the ease of access to this trail and this viewpoint make both extremely popular with visitors. The Yavapai Geology Museum is a fascinating stop for all ages, with interactive exhibits that teach about the geological history of the Grand Canyon. We definitely recommend dropping in, so consider this route to either get there from the main visitor center or come back from Yavapai Point if you’ve been out that way.
Expect a paved, mostly level path suitable for all skill levels and ages. The route starts at the visitor center at the west end and follows the Rim Trail. About two-thirds of the way in, stop to admire Grandeur Point. A bit further, you’ll arrive at the museum. Pop in to learn about the formation of the canyon before returning to the village.
