Route Description for North Rim Fire Watchtower Hike
The North Rim Fire Watchtower hike is a relaxing hike that’s easy enough for beginners and families. It leads you through the remote forests of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to a fire watchtower with an excellent vantage point over the surrounding landscape.
This route is quiet and very lightly trafficked, so you might just have the place to yourself. While it’s a short trip, make sure you prepare as you would for any other remote hike, with lots of water, layers of clothing, sun protection, and GPS mapping if needed.
The route begins from the side of the Grand Canyon Highway. There’s another trail that heads off to your right, but you’ll want to stay left. You’ll hike through two wide turns. Coming around the second, keep right where a forest road heads off to the left. You; soon arrive at the watchtower, which you can climb to earn your view. When you’re ready, turn back and retrace your steps.
