Route Description for Othello Tunnels
The Othello Tunnels Trail is a short route near Hope that passes through an old railway tunnel and into Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park. This quick 1.8 km hike offers the chance to walk through a unique piece of history as you make your way through the railway tunnels that were once hewn out of the rocky landscape and now stand as a memory of a bygone era of development in BC. A popular spot for families, this route is made up of flat terrain and has scenic views of the surrounding woodlands and mountains, making it the perfect spot for a nice weekend hike - just make sure to arrive early enough to beat the crowds.
This route is quick and easy to follow. From the obvious trailhead, follow the marked trail to the tunnels and then back to the parking lot once you’re done.

Getting to the Othello Tunnels Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the Othello Tunnels from Hope, drive northeast on Kawkawa Lake Road for 1.7mi and turn right onto Othello Road. After 850m, make another right to stay on the road and follow it for 1.4mi. Make another right onto Tunnels Road and continue on until you reach the parking lot.Route Information
