Route Description for South West Coast Path: County Gate to Trentishoe
While the South West Coast Path: County Gate to Trentishoe is a lengthy route in it’s own right, it is actually a part of a much longer trail that extends along the Devon coast, making it a popular activity for long distance walkers, trail runners, and backpackers. Setting out from the trailhead in County Gate, you will make your way north through a lovely stretch of forest before turning to the west to walk along the coast. As you traverse the rugged coastal terrain here, you will enjoy spectacular views across the blue expanse of the Bristol Channel. After passing through Lynmouth, you will continue to navigate along the charming coves and bays of the coast, until you eventually reach the terminus of the route at Trentishoe along the banks of the River Heddon.
Getting to the South West Coast Path: County Gate to Trentishoe Trailhead
To reach the trailhead for the South West Coast Path: County Gate to Trentishoe from Porlock, head west on High Street/A39 for 6.6mi, where you will find the car park on the left. From there, you will need to travel north on foot through the forest to reach the trailhead.Route Information
