Route Description for Snodgrass Mountain Trail
Suitable for a wide range of hikers, the Snodgrass Mountain Trail is an exceptional hiking route in the rugged Elk Mountains of Colorado that features a variety of terrain types and scenic views of the surrounding landscape.
Setting out from the trailhead on Gothic Road, you will head to the northwest past a small pond and continue working your way uphill through the meadows that make up the lower slopes of Snodgrass Mountain. Eventually, you will enter into the dense cover of the forest and continue on towards the summit.
Take some time here to appreciate the quiet tranquility of the forest, as you work your way along the trail towards the summit while enjoying the views of the surrounding valley through the intermittent breaks in the tree cover. After reaching the summit, take a few moments to rest up, as there are no real views through the tree cover here. Heading back down the mountain, you will initially follow the same path, before breaking off to the left on an alternate route down to the same trailhead where you began your adventure.
