Whether you are simply looking for a bit of peace and quiet on the trail or are hoping to take the entire family out for a fun day outdoors in the Elk Mountains, the Lily Lake Trail #639 is a fantastic option near Crested Butte to do so.
Setting out from the roadside parking area, you will make your way to the southeast and enter into the thick cover of the forest. Here, you will work your way gently uphill through the atmospheric woodland terrain, taking some time to reconnect with yourself and nature as you head towards the lake.
Further up the trail, ther tree cover will begin to thin out and reveal some lovely alpine meadows that are blanketed in wildflowers during the summer.
