If you are a fan of amazingly scenic lakeside settings and picturesque mountain views, then the Premier Lake to Canuck Lake Loop is a fantastic hiking option that will be sure to meet all of your needs. The trail is best completed in a clockwise direction, as the views along the route will become progressively better, and you will have the option to stop partway through for a swim at Canuck Lake. This is a great route that can easily be combined with a fun weekend of camping within the park.
Setting out from the Premier Lake Provincial Park Campground, the trail first visits the impressive shores of Premier Lake before heading northeast on a loop through a fairly open area with some brush. After passing by the marshy edges of Turtle Lake, continue for a short distance along the trail to enter into the dense forest cover before arriving at the shores of Canuck Lake. Take some time to explore the area and possibly jump in for a quick swim before continuing on towards Yankee Lake. Once there, you will be greeted with some amazing views of the wooded shores of the lake, with some impressive mountains towering high above the treeline. After wrapping up at the lake, head west to descend back through some open terrain to arrive back at the campground where you began your journey.
Getting to the Premier Lake to Canuck Lake Loop Trailhead
To reach the Premier Lake to Canuck Lake Loop from Skookumchuck, make your way north along Sheep Creek Road and after 2461ft make a right turn onto Premier Lake Road. Continue on for 4.3mi and make a right on N Lussier River Road. Make a slight right turn after 1.0mi onto Wasa Sheep Creek Road, followed by a left to continue on the same road for 0.6mi. Make a right onto Premier Ridge Road and continue on it for 1.6mi. Turn left, followed by another quick left to arrive at Premier Lake Provincial Park Campground, where you will find the trailhead.Route Information
