If you are looking to mix up your walking adventure with some interesting historical sites, then the Dartmouth Castle and Church of St Petrox Walk is a great way to do so while experiencing the stunning beauty of the South Devon coast. Setting out from the car park, you will make your way southeast to meet up with the coastline, following along the rugged terrain to the northeast until you reach the impressive 14th Century fortress of Dartmouth Castle that is situated right at the mouth of the River Dart. A short walk from here, you will also find the Church of St Petrox, which dates back to the 12th Century and is the oldest church in the Parish of Dartmouth. Continuing along the trail, you will follow the banks of the River Dart and enjoy the views across the water, climbing uphill to the southwest in order to reach the trailhead where you began.

To reach the trailhead for the Dartmouth Castle and Church of St Petrox Walk from the village of Stoke Flemming, drive northeast on Dartmouth Hill/A379 for 0.1mi and turn right onto Redlap Lane, following it for 0.8mi to arrive at the car park.Route Information
