Route Description for Village Ride and Red Rocks Hike
The Village Ride and Red Rocks Hike is a unique adventure near Morrison. Conveniently located and incredibly scenic, you will undoubtedly be sharing the path with like-minded adventurers, both tourists and locals alike. Travel through sagebrush, grassy meadows, and along red sandstone ridges that reveal epic views. What more could you ask for? This wonderful adventure will distract you from the stressors of the real world and reconnect you with nature. Note there are some steep and technical segments of the trek, so keep little ones and pups close by! Rattlesnakes also love sunbathing on the rocks, so keep an eye and ear out for them as you trek.
Begin your journey along the Village Ride and Red Rocks Hike from the Village Ride Trailhead. From here, track southwest along the Village Ride Trail, past the Mount Vernon Cemetery to an intersection. Here, follow the Red Rocks Trail south. At the next two junctions, keep left. The Red Rocks Trail will guide you along the lower ridge, exposing views of Denver and the Dinosaur Ridge Area below. Eventually, you will confront another intersection. Here, take a hard right and you will be diverted up a set of switchbacks on the Morrison Slide Trail.
Before you trek along this route, revel in the expansive views of the Red Rocks Park and amphitheater in the south. Hike north along the ridge, minding your footing. Soon you will meet another junction, turn left and you will briefly hike along the Cherry Gulch Trail before reconnecting with the Red Rocks Trail. From the intersection, keep left, retracing your footing along the Red Rocks Trail before merging onto the rightmost Village Ride Trail. This route will deliver you back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
