Route Description for Tallman Ranch Hike
The Tallman Ranch Hike is the perfect escape into the Colorado wilderness. The lovely path reveals the beauty of the diverse ecosystems in the State Park. Hike up the forested path, keeping an eye out for elk, deer, and moose as you travel up to the ranch. Bring plenty of water and be mindful of your ankles as you ascend the rocky terrain. Located in the Golden Gate Canyon State Park, visitors are required to purchase a day pass which typically costs around $10USD.
Embark on your adventure along the Tallman Ranch Hike from the Bridge Creek Trailhead. From here, track the Burro Trail northeast up a set of switchbacks. Ascend the forested route, and at the next intersection, keep left, and you will be diverted onto Mountain Lion Trail. Keep an eye out for wildlife as you travel further into the wilderness. Soon you will pass the Forgotten Valley Dispersed Campsites, which sit along the shores of a pond.
Explore the Tallman Ranch which is situated on the opposite side of the pond. Admire the remains of the log structure and imagine those who used to live hidden amongst the forested foothills. Rest and rehydrate before commencing your descent. When you are ready, simply retrace your steps along the path all the way back to the trailhead.
