Route Description for Artist’s Palette Overlook
The Artist’s Palette Overlook is both short and relatively flat, making it ideal for all skill levels and families with young children. Nevertheless, as the route is within the desert environment of Death Valley National Park, the heat and sun can become intense. It is therefore recommended that you do the hike earlier in the day or later in the afternoon to beat the midday heat!
Having arrived at the trailhead, follow the pathway east. You will soon arrive at a junction within the trail, where you are to then take the southernmost route. Continuing along the pathway, the Artist's Palette Overlook trail will begin to incline in elevation slightly before reaching a plateau.
At the plateau, the trail will end, and amazing views of the colourful surrounding hillsides can be admired. After you have had an opportunity to enjoy the sights, simply turn around and backtrack your steps towards the trailhead.
