Route Description for Widgery Cross Circuit
Walking the Widgery Cross Circuit is a great adventure near Lydford that will take you across several rugged tors set in the wonderful, yet barren landscape of Dartmoor National Park. Although there are some ups and downs along the route, it is well suited for a fun family excursion - so long as you wear the proper footwear! Setting out from the car park, you will descend the hillside to the southeast to meet up with the river Lyd, following along its banks to the north until you arrive at a crossing. From here, make your way east to climb the hillside, eventually traversing the rocky summits of Brat Tor and Great Links Tor. From here, you will descend the hillside to the northwest and cross back over the river, following the trail to the southwest that runs along the water’s edge, eventually bringing you back to the trailhead.
