Route Description for Western Beacon Circular Walk
Walking the Western Beacon Circular Trail is a great way to spend an afternoon outdoors in the Devon countryside, as you will be able to experience the hilly terrain and picturesque views that can be found along the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park. Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way past the Ivybridge rail station and briefly head south before turning to the north to climb the steep slopes of Western Beacon. While enjoying the sweeping views of the surrounding landscape, you will continue north along the undulating terrain to traverse Butterdon Hill before following the trail as it bends to the south. Here, you will once again make your way across the hillside to make your descent into Ivybridge. When you reach the rail line, follow it east to return to the trailhead.
