Route Description for Hameldown and Hound Tor Circular Walk
The Hameldown and Hound Tor Circular Walk is an amazing long-distance adventure that features some challenging terrain and several elevation gains, making it more suitable for seasoned walkers than beginners or those travelling with children. The route sets out from Haytor Vale and travels to the northwest to pass by the Haytor Quarry before traversing the undulating terrain to the southwest. After passing through several charming villages and traversing Hameldown Tor, you will visit the late Bronze Age site of Grimspound and follow the trail as it turns to the east. From here, you will walk across the summit of Hound Tor and pass through the abandoned Medieval village nearby, completing the return leg of the walk across the rugged landscape of the moor to arrive back at the car park.

To reach the car park for the Hameldown and Hound Tor Circular Walk from Widecombe in the Moor, head to the northeast for 3.6mi along B3387 and turn right to arrive at the trailhead.Route Information
