Route Description for Sun Path Hike
The Sun Path is a fantastic trail that allows you to discover the diversity of flora on the Varen alpine pasture plateau, the Varneralp. Setting out from the trailhead, walkers can enjoy the marvellous landscape views before reaching the source of the bisse and the Tièche waterfalls. The trail then continues along the hillside of the Varen alpine pasture, with an impressive view over the Haut-Valais region. After, a long descent takes you down to Leukerbad, where you can relax in the resort's thermal waters.
Getting to the Sun Path Hike Trailhead
To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the exit of the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) called "Sierre ouest". At the motorway exit, turn left and follow the signs for "Sierre". At the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 1640ft, then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left following the signs for "Crans-Montana". Once you arrive in Crans-Montana, follow the signs for the Rhodania car park. The journey takes about 20 minutes.Route Information
