Route Description for Grand Bisse de Lens Short Hike
The Grand Bisse de Lens ShortHike is a fun adventure that highlights an important element of local and cultural history in the Crans-Montana region. Like all bisses in the area, for centuries it helped irrigate vines and other crops which served to feed the local inhabitants of Valais.
Setting out from the starting point in Icogne, you will follow along the bisse and enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding landscape and villages. Passing below the Statue du Christ-Roi, the trail will bend to the northeast, before turning more directly north to bring you to Lens. From here, you can either find a ride back to the starting point or backtrack along the trail.
Getting to the Grand Bisse de Lens Short Hike Trailhead
To get to Icogne by car, take the exit of the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) called "Sion Est". Right after the motorway exit, at the roundabout, take the third exit and follow the signposts indicating Ayent/Savièse. At the second roundabout, take the second exit still following the signs for Ayent/Savièse, and the second exit at the third roundabout before the tunnel. At the roundabout after the tunnel, take the first exit on the right towards Champlan/Ayent. You pass through the villages of Champlan/Grimisuat/Botyre (Ayent).
