These routes follow the paths once used by inhabitants and cattle who moved around from the villages (Icogne, Lens) to the mayens (small alpine chalets), then up to the Alpine pastures, following the seasons and the growth of grass and plants.
Route Description for Ertenze Botanical Trail
The Ertenze Botanical Trail begins in Crans Montana and follows a scenic route up into the mountains. After leaving the village behind, you will make your way north through the valley and begin gaining elevation. Eventually, the route will turn back to the south, climbing further uphill to the Cry d’Er Club d’Altitude, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Getting to the Ertenze Botanical Trail Trailhead
To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the exit of the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) called "Sierre ouest". At the motorway exit, turn left and follow the signs for "Sierre". At the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 1640ft, then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left following the signs for "Crans-Montana". The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Crans-Montana, follow the signs for the car park and the cablecars Crans-Cry d'Er.Route Information
