The Siblyback Lake Trail is a quick and easy adventure on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall that will lead you around the shoreline of a charming lake. While out on the trail, you will experience beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and calm surface of the reservoir, as you traverse the shoreline and pass through intermittent stretches of forest. This is an excellent excursion that even offers the chance to rent some equipment and get out on the water!

Route Description for Siblyback Lake Trail

The main drawback to the Siblyback Lake Trail is the lack of parking at the layby next to the trailhead. If this is full, you can always park a bit further south at the Golitha Falls car park or utilize the parking at the Siblyback Lake Activity Centre. Pathways here are very well-maintained, but you should still wear comfortable footwear for the journey.

Featuring some lovely views of the surrounding landscape and great sightlines across the water, the Siblyback Lake Trail is a fun adventure that is sure to be enjoyed by the entire family. In addition to the exceptional trails in the area, you can also hire out some water sports gear and get out onto the lake for some more fun under the sun, and with a campsite located along the trail, this route has all the makings of an awesome weekend adventure.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the northeast for 0.4 km and bear right at the fork, before taking the next left to cross over the dam wall of the reservoir. Here, you will make your way along the edge of Siblyback Lake and enjoy some lovely views across the water that stretch out to Tregarrick Tor in the backdrop.

After passing through a small stretch of woodland terrain, you will continue on for 1.9 km and work around the northern end of the lake, eventually arriving at the site of the watersports centre and the Olive & Co Cafe, which is a great place for some mid-walk snacks. If you are looking to get out onto the water, now is also a great time to hire a paddleboard, canoe, or kayak. After passing by the cafe, you will keep right for 1.2 km along the shoreline, before turning left to make the return back to your vehicle having completed the Siblyback Lake Trail.

Used to control the water levels of the nearby River Fowley, the lake can hold over 3 billion litres of water and supplies drinking water to the surrounding area.
