The Kennall Vale Walk is a lovely adventure in Cornwall that will expose you to a peaceful stretch of woodland landscape. While out walking the trail, you will leave the village of Ponsanooth behind and enter into the forest to walk along the River Kennall and explore the various ruined buildings in the area. This is a short walk; however, you will still want to wear waterproof walking boots as the terrain can be quite wet and muddy.

Route Description for Kennall Vale Walk

Whether you are looking to gain firsthand experience of the region’s industrial past by exploring the ruined gunpowder factory along the trail or are simply looking to get outside and enjoy the beauty of nature while getting lost in the forest, the Kennall Vale Walk is a great trail that will be sure to meet your needs.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way along the road to the southwest and pick up the footpath branching off to your right. Here, you will enter into the dense cover of the forest to explore the peaceful atmosphere of Kennal Vale.

After crossing the small bridge that spans the River Kennall, you will be able to explore the old ruined buildings that serve as remnants of Cornwall’s industrial past, when this area used to produce gunpowder. Once you have explored the charming riverside setting, you will retrace your steps along the trail to return to the trailhead where you began.
