Route Description for Idless Woods Walk
Whether you are simply looking to get outside for a spot of exercise or want to explore the interesting historic ruins along this short trail, the Idless Woods Walk is a great adventure in Cornwall that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way east through the forest and quickly meet up with a branch of the River Allen. From here, you will follow the edge of the stream as it heads to the northeast and offers some views of the surrounding fields through the intermittent breaks in the tree cover.
Reaching the northeasternmost point of the route, you will turn to the west and climb uphill through the forest to begin a short loop around the ruins of an ancient hillfort. Here, you will also find a number of oddly placed eucalyptus trees, which were planted by the forestry commission as an experiment. After completing the loop and arriving back at the edge of the stream, you will follow it back to the southwest on the return leg back to the car park.
