Route Description for Caradon Hill and Copper Mines Walk
If you want to get out into the Cornish countryside to enjoy a bit of strenuous exercise while taking in beautifully scenic views and visiting historical sites, then the Caradon Hill and Copper Mines Walk will be a great option to do so.
Setting out from the car park in Minions, the highest village in Cornwall, you will make your way to the east and pass through the village, looping around the slopes of Caradon Hill as you enjoy some nice views of the surrounding landscape. After reaching the southeast corner of the route near the Wheal Tor Hotel, you will turn to the west and begin climbing uphill.
Once you have made your way to the top of Caradon Hill, you will have an amazing sightline across the surrounding terrain of Bodmin Moor and the Cornish countryside further afield. After taking in the views, you will make your way downhill along several remnants of the region’s mining past, before passing through a valley. Heading to the north, you will eventually arrive back in the village of Minions where you began.
