The Boscastle and Rocky Valley Circular is a fun trail in Cornwall that offers a great variety of terrain and plenty of interesting highlights. While out walking the trail, you will climb uphill through forests and across open fields to make your way into St Nectan’s Glen, before making the return along the dramatic Cornish Coast. Long trousers and bug spray are recommended, as sections of the trail can be a bit overgrown with nettles and plenty of mosquitoes will be buzzing around!

Route Description for Boscastle and Rocky Valley Circular Walk

Featuring plenty of scenic coastal features, as well as some serene woodlands with cascading waterfalls, the Boscastle and Rocky valley Circular Walk is an excellent adventure that can be enjoyed by a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts and will be sure to not disappoint.

Setting out from the trailhead in Boscastle, you will make your way to the southwest and climb uphill through the forest, passing by the village of Boscastle to traverse some open farmland. Eventually, you will enter into the wooded expanse of St Nectan’s Glen, a gorge that features a cascading waterfall and local myths that St Nectan had built a hermitage above the waterfall in the 6th Century. After exploring the tranquil glen, you will make your way through the Rocky Valley and past the Trewethet Mill in order to reach the coast. From here, you will head to the northeast along the dramatic terrain of the coast, enjoying beautifully scenic views of the sea and various coastal features, such as the Ladies Window Arch. Eventually, you will reach the point where the River Valency joins the sea and turn right to follow its banks back towards the trailhead.
