Route Description for Pikes Peak Loop
The Pikes Peak Loop is a great fresh air escape. Wander through luxuriant meadowlands and the sparse tree shade of looming pines. Expect ample scenery to explore, including small ponds littered with ducks and dogs cooling off. With limited shade, the exposed terrain through grants epic views also warrants unbearable hot conditions in the summer months. If you are hiking in the warmer season, consider a morning hike to beat the heat!
Embark on your adventure along the Pikes Peak Loop from the Cathedral Pines Trailhead. From here, the loop can be completed in either direction, but we wandered clockwise. Departing from the trailhead, track along the Pikes Peak Loop Trail west. At the first intersection, keep left hiking south through mixed pine forests. You will eventually be led west through meadowlands following the Pikes Peak Loop Trail. As you meander west, you will be granted breathtaking views of Pikes Peak on the horizon. Revel in the vistas of the Front Range peaks before diverting north. The path will weave between pine forest and meadowlands as you head north.
For the entirety of your adventure, make sure to stay along the Pikes Peak Loop Trail. Follow this path back to the trailhead marking the end of your adventure.
