Route Description for Buffalo Canyon Trail
The Buffalo Canyon Trail is rapidly becoming the favored route to reach the Silver Cascade Falls. The short but vertiginous climb is a more direct route that leads up to the mesmerizing cascades. Though the path is worn, it is overgrown in sections, so consider bringing along the trail GPS to easily navigate the terrain. Furthermore, the rocky terrain along the creek can be slick, so mind your footing, especially after rainfall.
Begin your trek along the Buffalo Canyon Trail from the trailhead off North Cheyenne Canyon Road. From here, the path will guide you to a small footbridge over North Cheyenne Creek. After crossing the rushing waters, you head south into the mixed pine forest. This section of the route will lead adventurers up the wooded gulch along the run-off of the Silver Creek Cascades. Enjoy the ambiance of the gurgling waters as you hike near the creekside. Soon the route will divert you southwest up to the base of the cascades.
Enjoy the hypnotizing sights of the Silver Cascade Falls and rejuvenate your feet in the chilly waters. Once you are through reveling in the view of the cascades surging over the smooth rocks, you can begin your return to the trailhead by retracing your footing along the path.
