Route Description for Bear Creek Trail
Don’t be fooled by the name; the Bear Creek Trail is not as scary as it seems. Reconnect with nature and escape into the fresh air as you travel through the wilderness. This adventure is a sight for sore eyes, from mixed pine forests to an overlook of the Red Rock Canyon and mountain views. Traveling deep into nature, it is essential to be mindful of wildlife—wear a bear bell if you are nervous about unwelcome encounters. Note sections of this path travel along the road, so stay on the shoulder and be mindful of vehicles passing by.
Embark on your adventure along the Bear Creek Trail from the High Drive Trailhead. From here, keep left and hike west along the Gold Camp Road. Hike along this path until you reach an intersection. Here, take a sharp right, and you will be diverted onto the Buckhorn Trail. This path will begin to climb through the woodlands to another junction. Here, stay right and merge onto the Captain Jacks Trail. This section of the path will begin to descend, keep trekking the Captain Jack Trails to the route’s end.
At the road’s end, take the path’s end; you will reconnect with Gold Camp Road. Here, keep right and hike west along the shoulder of the road back to the trailhead.
