Route Description for Great Hampden Circular Walk
The Great Hampden Circular Walk in the Chilterns takes you on a lovely loop through quintessential English countryside, peppered with expansive green fields and storied buildings that hark back to a long time ago. This is a great walk for families, but the mud piling up during wetter months can deter some! You will also have to spend some time walking along the road.
From Hampden Arms, head in a counterclockwise direction to Memorial Road. Follow this until you reach a Y-junction, where you’ll go left. Walk towards Hampden Road, which you’ll momentarily traverse before turning right. Continue towards John Hampden Memorial and onwards to Glade Road. Cross Missenden Road—take care when you do so. Keep straight before taking a left onto South Bucks Way. Right after you cross over Missenden Road for a second time, head left to get back to your car, passing Hampden House en route.
