Route Description for Window Mountain Lake Trail
From the intersection of Allison Creek Road and Atlas Road, hike up Atlas Road to the official signed trailhead. The trail is wide and open to cyclists, making for an easy start. It soon narrows and becomes quite steep, turning into a true slog for the final 600 m. Some of the steep sections are very rocky, so be aware that the trail is a little bit technical in some spots. The straightforward route takes hikers directly to the lake where you can enjoy the hard-earned views surrounding the lake.
Getting to the Window Mountain Lake Trail Trailhead
To reach the Window Mountain Lake hike from Coleman, Alberta, travel westbound on Highway 3 until you reach Allison Creek Road which is halfway between Coleman and Crowsnest. Turn onto Allison Creek Road and travel 10.3mi before pulling over for Window Mountain Lake at the intersection with Atlas Road. The official trailhead is a few kilometres up Atlas Road, however this road is extremely rough and most hikers walk up it. If you have a capable high-clearance 4WD vehicle, you may be able to begin from the trailhead.Route Information
