Route Description for Cohab Canyon Trail
The Cohab Canyon trail is a gorgeous, moderately challenging hike in Capitol Reef National Park. This trail begins with a steep climb, and ends with a steep descent; so wear proper footwear and bring along hiking poles if you’d like the extra support. The climb up is totally worth it though, the Cohab Canyon trail offers incredible views of the Utah desert. Be sure to bring along the camera—you don’t need to be a professional photographer to snap breathtaking shots from this trail.
Starting at the trailhead, follow the path up the switchbacks heading westward. Continue along through the canyon to an intersection of trails, keep straight ahead here to stay on route.
The Cohab Canyon trail ends at highway 24. Turn around at this junction and follow the same route back to the trailhead. If you want to explore more in the area, you can connect this trail with the Fruita Overlook trail and/or the Frying Pan Trail.
