Route Description for Upheaval Canyon Trail
The Upheaval Canyon is a beautiful, moderately challenging hike in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. This trail begins along White Rim Road, a road that can only be accessed in a high-clearance, 4WD vehicle. If you do not have such a vehicle, this trail can also be reached by hiking along the Syncline Loop that begins at the Upheaval Trailhead at the end of Upheaval Dome Road. The Upheaval Canyon Trail itself is a low-traffic route and a great place to go for some peace and solitude in Canyonlands National Park.
From the trailhead along White Rim Road, follow the cairn-marked path eastward down into and along the wash. Follow the wash until you meet up with the Syncline Loop.
This junction marks the end of the Upheaval Dome Trail; from here you can either turn around and head back to the trailhead or continue exploring along the Syncline Loop trail.
