Route Description for Spanish Bottom to Dollhouse Granaries
The Spanish Bottom to Dollhouse Granaries Hike is a challenging climb to an incredible viewpoint overlooking the Colorado River. This hike is very steep so wear good footwear, and bring along the hiking poles if you have them. Lots of water is also essential for this hike. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, be sure to take a long rest up top or consider setting up camp at the Dollhouse Campsite nearby. For an especially spectacular view, try this hike at sunrise or sunset.
From the west bank of the Colorado, follow the trail along the riverbank past the Spanish Middle Campsite for 0.6 km. At the divide, turn right to head up the steep set of switchbacks. Continue on for 1.3 km to the next divide. Take a left and hike the last quarter mile to the Granary Lookout.
Take a rest at the lookout and enjoy the views of the canyon below before heading down to set up camp or continuing on with your river adventure.
