Route Description for Murphy Hogback Trail
The Murphy Hogback Trail is a beautiful hike along a hogback ridgeline in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. The trailhead for this hike is along White Rim Road, a road that requires a high clearance, four wheel drive vehicle. If you do not have access to such a vehicle, this trail can be done as part of the Murphy Loop, a trail that begins at the Murphy Trailhead along Grand View Point Road. The expansive views of the Utah desert from the Murphy Hogback make this route a fantastic little hike and worthy of a stop on your visit to Canyonlands National Park.
From the trailhead, follow the path northeast along the hogback until you connect with the Murphy Point Trail.
The junction with the Murphy Point Trail is the official turn-around point for the Murphy Hogback route. If you are up for more- continue along the Murphy Point Trail to visit the Murphy Point Overlook or to complete the Murphy Loop.
