Route Description for Craig Mellon Circular Walk
Featuring pleasant riverside settings throughout the route and wonderful views of the surrounding mountains, the Craig Mellon Circular Walk is a fantastic adventure for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty of Cairngorms National Park.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will head west along Jock’s Road and enter into the cover of Glendoll Forest, taking some time to appreciate the beautiful woodland setting as you make your way alongside the banks of White Water. Eventually, the trail will exit the tree cover and begin climbing more steeply uphill, turning to the northwest just after passing Cairn Lunkard.
Here, you will traverse the undulating landscape to the north of Craig Mellon, continuing on until you begin to descend into another valley and meet up with the banks of the River South esk. Following the river to the southeast, you will work your way through the glan and enjoy amazing views of the surrounding peaks, before arriving back at the car park where you began your journey.
