Route Description for Rainbow Point, Yovimpa Point, and Bristlecone Loop
The Rainbow Point, Yovimpa Point, and Bristlecone Loop is a fantastic trail for hikers of all ages and skill levels. This path is relatively flat but gets little shade from the summer sun, so be prepared with sunscreen, a good sunhat, and plenty of water for yourself and your hiking party. The panoramic forest and canyon views make this hike a beautiful way to spend an afternoon basking in the beauty of the Utah landscape.
Starting at the Rainbow Overlook Shelter at the north end of the Rainbow Point Parking area, follow the path north for a couple hundred feet to the Rainbow Point Overlook. After an out-and-back to the overlook, head southeast from the shelter past the Bristlecone Trailhead to a divide. Take the right-hand path at this divide to follow the Bristlecone Loop down to the Bristlecone viewpoint, then back up to another fork in the trail. At this fork, take the path on your left and then take another left straight away to the overlook at Yovimpa Point. Enjoy the views at Yovimpa Point before returning to the Bristlecone Loop Trail and heading north to complete the circuit.
If you are looking for a longer trail in the area, check out the Riggs Spring Loop that begins nearby.
