If you are looking to experience the natural beauty of Brecon Beacons National Park but don’t want to tackle the challenging mountain terrain that the area is known for, you should definitely give the River Usk, Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal Walk.
Setting out from the car park in the town of Brecon, you will make your way initially to the southwest to reach the banks of the River Usk. From here, you will follow the water’s edge towards the southeast, taking some time to appreciate the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the peaceful riverside setting.
Shortly after passing under the A40, the trail will come to a junction at the point where the banks of the River Usk and the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal come close together. Make a sharp left at the junction and follow the path as it hugs tightly to the canal, eventually bringing you back into the town of Brecon where you began your journey.
