Route Description for Pontsticill Circular Walk
If you have been searching for a relaxing walk near Brecon Beacons National Park that features a variety of terrain, including open fields, dense forests, and lovely reservoir views, then the Pontsticill Circular Walk is the perfect route for you to get outside and explore the Welsh countryside.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way northeast and pass by the Red Cow Inn, following along the road as it branches off to the right and leads you towards the Pontsticill Reservoir. Here, you will make your way over the dam wall and make your way north along the east ern shore of the reservoir, enjoying the views across the water before entering into the cover of the forest.
After looping around the northern end of the reservoir and crossing over the bridge, you will continue along the water’s edge and pass through Taf Fechan Forest, making your way to the southeast as you head slightly downhill to meet up with the road. From here, you can turn right onto the road and follow it south into the trailhead where you began.
