Route Description for Offa’s Dyke Circular Walk
If you are looking for an interesting walking route in Brecon Beacons National Park that straddles the border of two countries and offers stunning views of the mountains, then the Offa’s Dyke Circular Walk is the perfect route for you.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will initially head to the southeast to loop around the Llanthony Priory, before heading up the steep slopes to the northeast. After reaching the top of Offa’s Dyke, you will make your way to the northwest along the border of Wales and England.
As you continue along the trail, you will enjoy sweeping views of Brecon Beacons National Park to the west and the English countryside to the east, before arriving at the northern terminus of the route at a junction with views of Black Mountain and Black hill to the north. Descending the hillside to the southwest, you will eventually meet up with the road and follow it along the valley floor to the southeast in order to return to the trailhead where you began. Here, you will find the Half Moon Inn, a great place for post-walk refreshments.
