Route Description for Fan Gyhirych Walk
If you are hoping to experience the wild and rugged nature of Brecon Beacons National Park without the foot traffic associated with popular climbs like Pen-y-Fan, then the Fan Gyhirych Walk is the ideal route for you.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the southeast and immediately begin climbing uphill alongside a stretch of forest, before the route turns more directly to the south and the path steepens on the approach to the summit of Fan Gyhirych.
Once you reach the summit of the mountain, you will complete a short loop while experiencing some breathtaking views overlooking the moors and mountains of Brecon Beacons National Park, including the famous Pen-y-Fan to the east and the waters of the Cray Reservoir below. After you have revelled in the scenery, make your way down the mountainside along the same trail to return to the trailhead where you began your adventure.
