Route Description for Carn Pica Walk
Featuring beautiful lakes, rugged mountain terrain, and scenic vantage points overlooking the wild landscape of Wales, the Carn Pica Walk is the perfect adventure if you are looking to explore the most easterly parts of the Brecon Beacons.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the northeast along the edge of the Talybont Reservoir, heading across Nant Tarthwynni and through some light tree cover, before turning to the west to climb up the mountainside. Here, you will climb past the Carn Pica Cairn, before continuing on to the summit of Waun Rydd.
Once you have reached the top of the peak, you will enjoy sweeping views across the mountainous terrain of Brecon Beacons National Park, including a great sightline overlooking the Talybont Reservoir below. After taking in the views, you will head to the southeast to descend the mountainside, traversing the summit of Allt Lywd at 654 m, before turning east to make your way further downhill on the return to the trailhead.
