Route Description for Carmarthen Fans Walk
Featuring a lengthy overall distance, challenging terrain, and breathtaking scenery, the Carmarthen Fans Walk is an excellent adventure for seasoned walkers that will allow you to explore the rugged landscape in the western reaches of Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.
This physically challenging route will lead you north across the River Tawe to walk below an escarpment, skirting around the scenic shores of Llyn y Fan Fawr, before turning to the west to experience some amazing views from below the Carmarthen Fans.
After reaching the shores of Llyn y Fan Fach, you will climb further uphill to traverse the fans themselves, including the peaks of Waun Lefrith, Picws Du/Bannau Sir Gaer, Fan Brycheiniog, and Fan Hir. After traversing the last summit, you will make your way downhill across the rugged terrain to the southeast in order to return to the trailhead where you began.
