Route Description for Gregory Canyon and Amphitheatre Loop Trail
The Gregory Canyon and Amphitheatre Loop Trail is an epic excursion through the wilderness. Hike up through canyons, up to summits, beneath tree shade and along meadowlands. Immerse yourself in nature and explore the flora and fauna of the area as you trek through the open space. Make sure to wear sturdy footwear as you will be navigating rocky terrain. Additionally, when hiking in the winter months, be sure to wear microspikes to safely navigate the likely icy terrain.
Embark on your adventure along the Gregory Canyon and Amphitheatre Loop Trail from the trailhead, tracking the Amphitheatre Trail. Hike this path past craggy cliffs up to an intersection with E.M Greenman Trail. This path will guide adventurers all the way up to the summit of Green Mountain. Revel in the sights of the Front Range snow-capped peaks and retrace your footing back down the E.M Greenman Trail. At the junction with the Amphitheater Trail, keep left along the path.
At the trail’s end, merge onto the Ranger Trail down to the trailhead at Flagstaff Road. Here, keep right and hike along the Gregory Canyon Trail. This route will gently descend all the way down the canyon, delivering you back to the trailhead.
