Route Description for Baughmans Gulley Loop Trail
The Baughmans Gulley Loop Trail is a lovely circuit through the meadowlands just above Lefthand Canyon. Travel past ancient mines and through the sparse shade of ponderosa pines in the company of fellow outdoor enthusiasts. Conveniently located just outside of Boulder, this path is the perfect escape into the wilderness. Let the fresh mountain air fill your lungs and revel in the stunning vistas of Colorado’s mountainous landscape.
Embark on your adventure along the Baughmans Gulley Loop Trail from the trailhead off the Lefthand Canyon Drive. From here, track north along the Lefthand Main Trail to an intersection. At the first junction, keep right and you will be diverted onto the Baughmans Gulley Single Track Trail. The initial segment of the path will guide you through the sparse coverage of pines before leading hikers through meadowlands. Turn left onto the Twin Saddles Single Track Trail at the next intersection. Enjoy the sights of the foothills as you walk, and you will eventually meet another junction.
Here, veer left onto the Lefthand Main Trail. Now trekking southeast in the direction of the trailhead, hikers will pass several mines. Enjoy the remains of the old mines and continue wandering this path all the way back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
