Route Description for Bald Mountain Hike
The Bald Mountain Hike is an epic hike up to a barren summit that exposes expansive views of the Front Range snow-capped peaks. Weaving through evergreen forests and luxuriant meadowlands, this path exhibits the beauty and diversity of the Colorado wilderness. In the summer months, enjoy the sights of wildflowers and the lush greenery, and in the winter months, trade your hiking boots for snowshoes. Versatile and scenic, explore the wilderness year-round. Note the trail GPS may come in handy as the trail up to the summit is not well signposted.
Begin your journey along the Bald Mountain Trail from the Sugarloaf Mountain Parking Lot. From here, track west along the Switzerland Trail. This well-marked path will lead adventurers along a dirt route lined with pines. Eventually, you will encounter an intersection, here veer right up the unmarked Bald Mountain Summit Trail. Scramble up the steep terrain to the summit of the barren peak. From here, revel in the sights of the Front Range snow-capped peaks. When you are done admiring the sights, hike down the western flank of the mountain to the Switzerland Trail.
When you reconnect with the Switzerland Trail, turn left and hike east along the path back to the trailhead, marking the end of your adventure.
