Route Description for Pine Flats Hot Springs Hike
Treat yourself to a relaxing soak in one of Mother Nature’s natural hot tubs along the Pine Flats Springs Hike. This lovely trail leads down the rocky ridges of the Payette River Canyon through beautiful pine woodlands carpeted with lush undergrowth before arriving at the piece de resistance. Note that this area sees plenty of traffic, so we encourage you to head out in the early morning or evening to avoid the rush. Don’t forget to bring a swimsuit and towel, and cash for the parking fee! When hiking in the winter months, microspikes are useful to navigate the steep, icy terrain.
Your adventure down to the hot springs begins from the trailhead in the campground. From here, the path will begin to descend into the lush woodlands of towering pines. As the tree coverage is sparse, you will enjoy sights of the river valley along the way. After some hiking, the route will open to the river and the hot tubs.
Note that the top ones are the hottest, and the lower you go, the cooler they get. Be sure to test the waters before you hop in! Enjoy the picturesque river scene as you soak, and when you are through luxuriating in the warm water, retrace your footing up to the trailhead.
