Route Description for Dillon Pinnacles Hike
The Dillon Pinnacles Hike is an impressive and relaxed path up to a great lookout. This trail has a gradual elevation gain as you ascend through the woods to the base of the spires, but it is very manageable on the well-maintained trail. Summit the trail, and you will be granted panoramic views of the volcanic spires, the lake, the Gunnison river, and the San Juan Ranges in the distance.
Set out from the Dillon Pinnacles Parking Lot onto the Dillon Pinnacles Trail. Continue along this trail as you pass a boat launch and hug the river's shore. The trail will eventually begin to curve north as you hike into the lush woodlands. Follow along as you near the base of the Dillon Mesa and the trail opens to the rocky spires. The path will divert left as you walk along the base of the spires and through sagebrush. The trail will come to its end at a roundabout lookout point. Walk around the loop and admire the picturesque views of the lake below and surrounding rocky peaks.
After hiking the small loop and enjoying the vistas, retrace your steps back down the trail to the parking lot.
