Route Description for Fremont River Trail
The Fremont River Trail is a beautiful little hike from the Fruita Campground in Capitol Reef National Park. This hike ends with a steep climb up to a stunning overlook, so make sure you are wearing proper footwear to handle the ascent and descent. Hiking poles can also be a great tool to have for this section. Other than the last bit, this is a relaxing, flat stroll along the Fremont River. This hike is a great way to unwind after a long day exploring the Park before you tuck yourself in for a night under the stars at the Fruita Campground.
From the campground, follow the well marked trail heading westward along the south side of the river. After a short while, the trail will climb up to the viewpoint.
Take a loop around the viewpoint to get a 360 look at the park below before heading down and following the same path back to the campground.
